William H. Moreno

January 2, 1950 — March 4, 2025

Elgin

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Henry Moreno, 75, of Elgin, Texas who passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 following a battle with liver cancer. Bill was a character throughout his life. His quick wit and sharp tongue kept friends and family rolling on the floor laughing. Even at the end of his life, Bill had his family laughing when he continually attempted to sneak out of bed.

Bill was born to Jesus Moreno and Erlinda Moreno (Flores) on January 2, 1950 in Valley Center, Kansas. He grew up in Wichita, Kansas where he attended Arkansas Avenue, Pleasant Valley, and Wichita Heights. In 1969, Bill married his sweetheart, Trinea Janz. They were married for fifty-five years, but together for fifty-eight. Shortly after the birth of their first child, Carlene, they moved to Austin, Texas. While living in Texas, Bill owned his own business setting up manufactured homes and later spent the majority of his work life as a warehouse manager for several different companies. Once he retired, he continued to keep busy by helping out at his in-laws furniture store, tinkering outside in his yard, and spending time with his three grandkids.

Bill loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching his children play sports, but most of all he loved coaching his son’s baseball team each summer for over ten years. He was very proud of helping the boys grow as players and develop their character as young men. During the school year, Bill was active in the Crockett High School Baseball Booster Club helping to raise money to improve the team’s baseball field by working in the concession stand, conducting car washes, and much more. He was one of the main organizers, spending many hours creating and building the new baseball field. Few things made Bill happier than traveling to Wichita, Kansas to attend family reunions every summer. He cherished spending time with his mom and dad, as well as listening to stories shared by his aunts and uncles at the reunions. He always had a good time with his eleven brothers and sisters joking around and reminiscing about the fun times as kids and young adults. Bill loved spending time with his wife’s family as well. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his father-in-law, Martin. They always came back with funny stories, like the time they were hunting on a friend’s property and got chased by a buffalo.

Bill is survived by his wife, Trinea Moreno, his three children, Carlene Ogren (Ronnie), Erica Moreno, Andrew Moreno (Kayla), his three grandchildren, Jaden, Kierra, and Nathaniel, his dog, Red, and his cats, Hazel Grace, Gray, Andi, and Lovie. He is also survived by his siblings, Mike Moreno (Marcy), Robert Moreno (Debbie), Olga Garcia, Mando Moreno, George Moreno (Tina), Linda Adams, Margaret Moreno, Lisa Hernandez (Paul) and many nieces and nephews and his in-laws, Patti Janz, her children Allena Mitchell (Malik), Jeremy Clifford, Anthony Sprague (Lisa), and multiple grand nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Jesus Moreno, mother, Erlinda Moreno, and brothers, Steve Moreno, Mario Moreno, Ron Moreno, and multiple fur babies.

There will be a celebration of life in Elgin, Texas on May 3, 2025 and in Wichita, Kansas on June 28, 2025. Time and location are still to be determined.
