William Eugene Mayfield Sr.

William E. “Bill” Mayfield, AKA “Mr. Bill” passed away on June 1, 2018, at the age of 87. He was born February 3, 1931 on a farm outside of Oronogo , MO.

He graduated from Webb City, MO. High School; and enlisted in the Air Force and became a career military man. He served in the Korean War, attended officer training school and then went on to live and travel worldwide, as well as service in the Vietnam War. Bill retired after serving his country for just short of 30 years. After retirement he and his wife Guyla, settled in Brenham, TX. in the late 1970’s where they built their retirement home. He was a very active member of the Brenham Fine Arts League, the Brenham Country Club, as well as the Frist Christian Church of Brenham.

Bill was preceded in death by his son, William E. Mayfield Jr.

He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, his daughter, Darla Mayfield of Thrall, Texas and his sister Ruby Hill of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 16, 2018 First Christian Church of Elgin, 101 Robin St. Elgin, TX 78621.
