Willard Clarence Teinert

April 10, 1928 — November 20, 2022

Willard C. Teinert, 94, of Cypress, Texas, passed away to be with the Lord on November 20, 2022.  Willard was born on April 10, 1928 – the ninth of ten children - to G.J. and Wanda Schneider Teinert in Copperas Cove, Texas.  He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Copperas Cove.  He graduated from Copperas Cove High School in 1945 and soon thereafter entered the US Army where he served in the Pacific Theatre with Operations.   He then graduated from the University of Texas – Austin with an engineering degree in 1952.  He was a Registered Professional Engineer, and spent his career with Sunray Oil, the Texas Highway Department, and Turner, Collie and Braden, Inc.  He worked on such projects as planning the Beltway 8 loop around Houston.

In 1952, he was married to Ann Gruetzner at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Austin by Rev. Albert Jesse.  He and Ann spent most of their life in the Austin and Elgin area.  In 2002, they moved to Friendswood to be near their daughter and family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Herbert, Albert, and Monroe and six sisters, Lillian, Elsie, Mildred, Gladys, Doris, and Theresa.  He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ann, their children: son, Randall Teinert and wife, Eileen of Orlando, FL, and daughter, Pamela Garrison and husband, Phil of Houston, TX, and their grandchildren: Alicia Garrison of Houston, Travis Teinert of Orlando, Amy Teinert of Orlando, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Willard expressed that his most enjoyable things in life were being with family, watching his children and grandchildren grow up and mature, and his nineteen years as an Elder at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Austin and Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin.  He also served as chairman of both congregations.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He always stressed “faith and family”, and his family has been fortunate to have experienced his continued encouragement, concern, guidance, and support throughout his life for which they are profoundly grateful.  He loved going to sporting events or watching them on TV.  He also loved being out in the country at the “ranch” with cattle and “piddling” around the land.

A service celebrating his life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin, TX on December 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Carl Roth officiating.  Prior to the service, a viewing will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.  The burial will immediately follow the service at the Elgin Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin (801 W. 11th Street, Elgin, TX 78621) or the charity of your choice.
