April 15, 1937 — February 9, 2019

Wilbert Glenn George of Elgin, Texas fell asleep in Jesus and entered eternal glory with God in heaven on Saturday, February 9, 2019. He was born to Herman and Clara (nee Czimskey) George on April 15, 1937. He was reborn into God’s Kingdom through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on May 16, 1937 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Noack, Texas, with Rev. P. B. Miertschin officiating. He confirmed his Christian faith at the same congregation on April 2, 1950 after receiving instruction in Christian doctrine from Rev. G. A. Zoch. Wilbert worked on the family farm during his early years and moved to Austin to begin a career as a printer after graduating from Thrall High School in 1955. On May 28, 1960, Wilbert was joined in Holy Matrimony to Doris Marie Ritter at Trinity Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas, with Rev. Martin Ramming officiating. Wilbert loved spending time with his family. His favorite hobbies were fishing and gardening.

Wilbert was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris, of Elgin; his sister, Loraine Vorwerk of Austin; his son, Glenn George of Austin; his daughter, Jacque Scarmardo of Hutto; his son, Paul (Penny) of McDade; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Virginia Sine of Mason; and extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16 at Grace Lutheran Church, 801 W. 11 th St., Elgin, Texas 78621 with Rev. Carl Roth officiating. Interment will follow in the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery, 14501 N. Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. A luncheon will be held at the Grace Lutheran Church Parish Hall at 1:00 p.m. following the committal service.

Serving as pall bearers at Wilbert’s funeral will be David Vorwerk, David Zunker, Jason Maxwell, Tyler Gambrell, Bill Campbell, and James Campbell.

Though we mourn because of Wilbert’s death, we take comfort from the truth that he was saved for everlasting resurrected life by God’s grace, through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Wilbert’s family has asked that memorials given in honor of him be directed to Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin, Texas.
