Pastor Virginia Resendez Reyna passed away in the early hours of March 2, 2021 in Elgin, Texas at the age of 92.

She was born on November 18, 1928 in Elgin, Texas to Luciano Resendez and Eudelia Gonzalez Resendez.  She served the Lord proudly and was known to receive phone calls and visits from friends and family in the community for prayers and counseling. She loved to garden and always had the best yard in town, she took pride in keeping a clean and beautiful home, and family would often find her doing her own home renovations because she truly believed if put your mind to it you can do anything. There were countless times she was caught by a grandchild on the ladder outside hanging her own Christmas lights or painting the house. She lived a life that was unbelievably hard at times, yet she never dimmed in her belief in Christ and kept pursing for better for her family.

Virginia is survived by her children, as well as her sister Margarita Rodriguez of Round Rock.

She is preceded in death by her husband David Reyna, her sisters Lucia Chavarria, Martha Resendez, brothers, Robert Resendez, David Resendez, William Resendez, and Fred Resendez.

Visitation is from 6pm-8pm, Friday, March 5, 2021 at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 10am, March 6, 2021, at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Burial to follow immediately at Elgin Latin Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank Bernaldina Valdez, and Terri Norton, for being her caregivers through Bluebonnet Home Health Care of Texas Inc. We appreciate their love, tenderness, and patience with our loved one.

Thank you to Rosemary Tovar for being her evening caregiver. We appreciate all the love and kindness to our mother and grandmother as well as the additional support that our family needed when caring for Virginia these last few years.

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to Richard Benavides for sharing the Gospel on Virginia’s behalf for the services
