Virginia Lee Carroll

On the morning of August 5, 2024, Virginia “Gini” Lee Cordell Carroll passed away in her home at the age of 55. Gini was born June 21, 1969, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was married to Hubert “Hank” Carroll, Jr., for 31 years. Gini was preceded in death by her father Glenn Cordell, and brother Floyd Cordell. She is survived by her mother, Roberta Cordell, brothers Glenn “Chip” Cordell and Charles “Chuck” Cordell, two daughters Christina “Hope” Woodrow and Dianna “Rose” Carroll, four grandchildren, and a loving extended family.

Gini was a light that touched the lives of those she met through her years as a schoolteacher, teaching swimming lessons, helping friends and neighbors, and immersing herself in her church community. She always had a project, whether it was building a deck or paving a new butterfly garden to sit and enjoy the outdoors, and it always led to better spaces for quality time and memories. She was a level-headed, grounding presence, and her stability and love will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Elgin on Monday, September 16, at 2:30pm.
