Vera Scott

Vera Ann Scott of Elgin, Texas passed away on May 23, 2018 surrounded by her family.

She was born on January 3, 1936 to parents William H. and Rena Sakewitz Gustafson in a farmhouse outside of Coupland, Texas.

Vera attended public schools in Coupland and Elgin. She married Buddy Sam Scott in 1952, they moved to Austin in 1954 and started their family. In 1984, Vera and Buddy moved to Cedar Hills Neighborhood outside of Elgin, a place she called home until her death. Throughout the years, Vera was a loving homemaker, mother and wife, as well as a trusted caretaker for dozens of children. She and Buddy remained married for 60 years until his passing in 2013.

She is survived by her son, Buddy M. Scott and wife Karen of Round Rock; son Mark Scott of Elgin; daughter Rebecca Sue Tarrant of China Spring; brother Gene Gustafson of Copperas Cove, TX., and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral service is Saturday, June 2 at 10:00am at Providence-Jones Funeral Home in Elgin, Texas.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels of Elgin or St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elgin.
