Thelma Williams

Thelma Brown Williams, 89, of Elgin, TX, made her journey home peacefully on Tuesday, March 12th, 2023. Born on April 10th, 1934, in Bastrop County, she was the daughter of George Brown and Chesta Brown.

Thelma lived a dedicated Christian life filled with devotion and love. She was united in marriage on April 8,1960 to her loving husband, Rev R. D. Williams. Together they raised their two children in Elgin, TX. Thelma’s warm and inviting nature meant she never knew a stranger, and she touched the lives of many through her genuine kindness and compassion. Above all else, her heart swelled with love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable happiness into her life.

Thelma was a Daycare teacher, Caregiver, and Pastor’s wife who also had a passion for growing plants. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Bastrop County.

Thelma is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, bonus daughter, Joyce Ann Williams Collins, and grandson Michael Dawon Collins. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories through her surviving family members, including her husband, Rev R. D. Williams; her sons, Roy (Delores) and Daniel (Shelondrea). In addition to her husband and children, Thelma is mourned by 10 loving grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Also, a special thanks to her niece Velma Simien for all the loving care she provided during her journey home.

A Viewing will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin, Texas. Interment will follow at the Elgin Latin Cemetery in Elgin, Texas.
