Terry Lee Schultz, 82, of Manor, Texas, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Monday, February 19th, 2024, at Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital in Round Rock, Texas.
Terry was born on December 23, 1941, in Lexington, Nebraska and was the son of Lewis Schultz and Ana (Bailey) Schultz. He attended Lexington High School where he met the love of his life, Audrey Kay Smith.
On June 5, 1960, Terry and Audrey were married. In years to follow, they were blessed with two children, (son) Tim and (daughter) Stacy. Terry joined the U.S. Army National Guard in 1960, attended flight school, and became an instructor pilot. After a 37 year distinguished military career and earning many awards, Terry retired as a Colonel with the title of The State of Texas Director of Army Aviation Safety in December 1996.
In 1977, the Schultz family moved and settled in Manor, Texas where Terry served in various youth coaching roles and was a member of the New Sweden Lutheran Church.
After retirement, he went to work for the Manor Independent School District serving as a substitute teacher in kindergarten for 3 months as well as a school bus driver for 10 years. He enjoyed his time with students while giving back to the community. His favorite pastime was traveling and following his grandkids to watch horse shows, baseball, softball, and volleyball games for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Audrey Kay Schultz, children, Tim (Lisa) Schultz and Stacy (Don) McCoy, grandchildren, Brian (Jennie), Morgan and Makenna Schultz, Harper Orts, and Ava and Hillary McCoy, brothers, Bob Hawks of Lexington, Nebraska, Lewis (Nancy) Schultz of Cortez, Colorado, Ronnie (Judy) of Ulysses, Kansas, Gary (Edna) of Lexington, Nebraska, Jerry Schultz of Pahrump, Nevada and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Terry was preceded in death by both of his parents, brother, Glen, and sisters, Georgia Ann and Patty.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ascension Seton Williamson for the care that was provided during his stay at the hospital.
Honorary pallbearers are: Ken Cardwell, Ed Jones, Herbert Purtle, Mike Mullenix, Sam Warren, and Ken (Pop) Pruitt.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, February 26, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 pm.
