Terry Neil Diset

Terry Neil Diset age 59 of Bastrop, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024.

Terry was born in Temple, TX on September 10, 1964. He spent his childhood moving across Texas and settled in Del Valle, TX where he spent his adolescence and part of his young adulthood. At the age of 24, Terry made a commitment to the United States Army and served for 4 years, being stationed in Bamberg Germany with the 82nd Engineer Batallion and Fort Riley, Kansas with the First Infantry Division, the “Big Red One.” Terry also served his time in Iraq where he fought in Desert Storm with the job title Heavy Construction Equipment Operator. After the war, Terry endured an injury that honorably discharged him from the military and he was sent home. Terry was awarded with the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service medal, Army Lapel button, Good Conduct Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, W/2 Bronze Stars, Army Commendation medal, and the Army Achievement medal. Terry met his wife in Junction City, Kansas and eventually moved back to Texas. Terry and his wife settled in Hutto, TX shortly after their daughter was born. In 2021, Terry moved to Denton, TX to be nearby his daughter, where he spent the rest of his days.

Terry loved to spend time with his daughter and grandson, watch his favorite sports, and drinking a cold beer on the porch. Terry was an avid story teller and would reminisce over his time serving in the Army. Terry was loved by many people for his kind, compassionate spirit and truly never met a stranger.

Terry is survived by his daughter, Tara Diset, grandson Leonardo Padilla, aunt Sheila Hogan and uncle Frank Hogan aunt Barbara Barnes, as well as many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Chong Henry, his mom Peggy Nippes and step-dad Bill Nippes, grandparents Effie Lee and Perry Farley, aunt Vicki Burch and uncle Ray Burch, and uncle Bud Barnes.

Graveside services will be held 10:00am Monday, June 3, 2024, Old Red Rock Cemetery
