Steven Dwayne James, Sr.

Sunrise March 31, 1960 to Sunset August 7, 2021

Steven Dwayne James was born on March 31, 1960, to Lewis James and Willie Mae Colvin in Houston, Texas. Steven was raised and attended school in Houston. He gave his life to Christ at Foster Place Baptist Church. Steven worked as a driver for the oil fields but was a jack of many trades. He did everything from driving, plumbing, landscaping, and fixing cars. He enjoyed fishing, barbecuing, dancing, deejaying, coaching basketball, playing cards, dominoes, telling jokes, and pulling pranks on his family.

On December 7, 1980, he married the love of his life, Sandra Carothers of Elgin, TX. They had two beautiful sons, Steven Jr. and Xavier. He began attending Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Elgin, Texas in 1990 and was his church home until 2021.

On August 7, 2021, Steven went home to be with the Lord. Preceding him in death are his parents, Lewis (Carmen) and Willie Mae (Lloyd); and his siblings, Wonderlyn and Lewis Jr.

He leaves to cherish his many memories: his beautiful and loving wife, Sandra of 41 years; two sons, Steven (Nakia) and Xavier (Simone); nine grandchildren, La’Niya, Dedra, Danine, Robert, Natayvia, Solei, Keemorah, Kymori, and Elijah Watkins; two sister-in-laws, JoAnn and Linda; nieces and nephews, Sherri, Lakeshia, Jarita, Lewis III, Quincy, Rodrick, Calvin, Shelly, Ricky, Nicole, many cousins, other relatives, and friends.
