Sterling David Pence

David Pence, age 72, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, peacefully fell asleep in Jesus and entered everlasting life with God the Holy Trinity on March 18, 2025 at his home in Coupland, Texas. He was born on December 11, 1952 to Sterling R. and Violet Pence. He was born again into God’s Kingdom through Holy Baptism on March 29, 1953. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Irene (nee Stratmoen) Pence on February 8, 1986. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Sarah.

David worked for several electric utility companies during his career, most recently for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, golf, and his pets. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Along with Irene and Sarah, he was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin, Texas.

David was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Irene; his daughter, Sarah; his sister, Christie (Tommy) Bliven; and nephew, Tyler Dickens.

A memorial service for David will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 27 at Grace Lutheran Church in Elgin. A light luncheon in the parish hall will follow the service.

Though we mourn because of David’s death, we take comfort from the truth that he was saved for everlasting resurrected life by God’s grace, through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. To Him be glory forever!
