Shelby W. Cody

Shelby Wayne Cody, 33, was born in Austin Texas on January 27, 1991, and went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ on November 7, 2024.

Shelby was born the youngest of three children to Charles Cody and Beverly Witcher. Shelby answered his call of duty and served as an infantryman in Afghanistan, earning the coveted combat infantry badge and numerous decorations.

At the time of his death, Shelby had registered for classes at Austin Community College and was employed as an irrigation and landscape specialist at Cody‘s Irrigation and Landscaping. Shelby loved catfishing, particularly alongside his dad, Charles. They were fishing buddies. He loved giving his mama Beverly bear hugs and never once failed to tell her he loved her, it was important to him.

Shelby is survived by his dad, Charles Cody and wife, Joann, his mother, Beverly Witcher and husband, Shane, his big sister, Kelly “Jelly” Goertz and husband Clint, his nephew Ike, his big brother Clayton Cody and fiancé Tina Schulte, His stepsisters Heather Rupert, Lauren Konarek and stepbrothers Wesley Harkins and Gunnar Witcher.  He is also survived by his girlfriend that he loved, Katie Wolf, and he never saw one without the other.

Shelby was proceeded in death by his paternal grandparents, Billy and Carolyn Reid and maternal grandparents J. P. Ellis and Betty Jo Ellis.

Visitation will take place at Providence - Jones Funeral Home at 604 Highway 95 in Elgin, Texas on Wednesday, November 13th, 2024, from 6–8 p.m. and funeral services will be conducted at Providence – Jones on Thursday, November 14th at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery on Oak Hill Cemetery Road, 23360 near McDade, Texas
