Rudolph Lara Sr., 82, of Elgin, Texas, was called home the morning of April 12, 2018 surrounded by his beloved family.
Rudolph was born in Bastrop County, Texas to Concepcion and Petra Aleman-Lara on October 24, 1935. In his early age he attended Elgin Schools. He was married to the love of his life, Susie Beltran Lara on April 24, 1954 in Elgin, Texas. Rudolph served in the United States Army before being honorably discharged in 1958. Once discharged he went to work for Elgin Butler Brick Company and was also a framer for many years. He also spent 20+ years for the City of Austin Housing Authority before retiring in 2013. He was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elgin. His kind heart, contagious smile, and love for his family was adored by anyone he met.
Rudolph is preceded in death by a son Raul Lara; his parents Concepcion and Petra Lara; and sisters Oralia Lara Bega and Alicia Lara.
Rudolph is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Susie Lara, daughters Rosalinda Escalón (Gabriel); Esther Garza (Gilbert); Carolina Ubias (John), and son Rudy Lara, Jr. (Veronica); 10 grandchildren Angela Gaspar (Froilan), James Escalón, Jeremy Garza, Amanda Morris (Aarron), Veronica Escalón, Anthony Ubias, Lorena Lara, Leonela Lara, Ana Escalón, and Lilian Lara; 10 great-grandchildren Dominique Ubias, Isaac Gaspar, Dasiee Barrientos-Escalón, Natalia Gaspar, Izabelle Barrientos-Escalón, Jayson Gaspar, Madison Gaspar, Arysssa Barrientos, John Anthony Ubias Jr., and Kreed Morris; sisters Andrea Muñiz (Louis) and Dora Castillo (Juan).
A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Friday April 13, 2018,Providence Jones Family Funeral Home with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM.
A Celebration of Mass Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 AM Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elgin, TX with Father George Joseph and Deacon Richard Botello. Burial will follow at Elgin Latin Cemetery
