Ruben Ector Jaime, age 88, of Manor, Texas, passed away on February 1, 2022. Ruben was born on March 14, 1933, in Taft, Texas to Teodoro and Brigida Jaime. He graduated from Austin High and went straight to join the US Army where he served as a paratrooper and earned the rank of Sergeant. He served his country at the tail end of the Korean War and into the Vietnam War.
On November 9, 1966, he married the love of his life, Lynda Guajardo and her 2-year-old daughter, Brenda Lee. They were a packaged deal. Ruben worked for Southland Corporation, which owns and operates 7-Eleven, as a supervisor for 20 years. He then went to work for El Galindo, a family-owned tortilla factory, as a plant manager. He retired from there after over 20 years of employment.
Ruben loved woodworking, deer hunting, and gardening; he loved his roses. He was also a huge Texas Longhorn fan and was often told that he bleeds burnt orange. Ruben was a quiet person and reserved but also had a great sense of humor much to the detriment of his children who said that he would never be serious when they wanted him to be.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Tito Jaime, Oscar Jaime, and Jesse Jaime, and his sisters, Carmen Reyna and Amparo Jaime.
Ruben is survived by his wife, Lynda, his daughter, Brenda Porras and husband, Larry, his son, Adam Ector Jaime, his granddaughter, Brianna Layne, his sisters, Ida Trawick and Lilly Mercado, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Ruben’s home health nurse of over two years, Gloria Eason, as well as all the nursing staff at Amedisys Hospice who helped care for Ruben. The family also wants to thank the many friends and family who visited and helped Ruben and Lynda during his last years.
