Robert Lee Carter Iii

Robert Lee Carter III, aged 86, of Elgin, Texas, passed away on July 24, 2024. Born October 3, 1937, in Lockhart, Texas, he was a respected member of the community and a cherished figure in both his personal and professional life.

Robert graduated from Elgin High School and attended the University of Texas. He proudly served in the National Guard and the Texas state Guard, dedicating himself to the values of duty and community. His career was marked by his tenure with the State of Texas and as a successful entrepreneur, owning several businesses that bolstered the local economy.

Robert was a man of quiet demeanor, well-read, and with a deep love for music and literature, passions that he enjoyed in his leisure time. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeanette Alice Reasz Carter, daughter, Charlotte Carter, and his sister Janie Marie Carter Scott. He leaves behind his loving wife, Laura Cayton Carter; his son, Jeff Carter and wife Gena; daughter, Lori Carter Karl and husband Heath; and stepson, Jared Maness and wife Christy; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Robert will be remembered fondly by those who knew him for his integrity, intellect, and gentle spirit. His legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched.

A private graveside service will be held at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery
