Richard Guzman Tijerina, 68, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 29, 2023, in Austin, Texas. Surrounded by his loving wife and daughters by his side. Even while taking his last breaths, he prayed and worshiped to the Lord our God. Richard loved the Lord and was a God-fearing man.
Richard was born in Ada, Minnesota to Vicente and Amelia Tijerina on July 28, 1955. Married to the love of his life Elizabeth Sanchez Tijerina for 41 years. Richard lived for not only his children, but for his siblings and grandchildren. He was the patriarch of his family and loved his siblings, he would do anything for his children and grandchildren. Richard enjoyed attending and serving the Church. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, listening to music, dancing, and singing his favorite Spanish songs. He loved his Texas Rangers, Texas Longhorns & above all his Dallas Cowboys. He was a loving, caring son, brother, husband, father/ grandfather to his children/grandchildren. He lived life to the very fullest.
Richard is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Sanchez Tijerina; son: Richard Dale Tijerina, three daughters: Yvonne Tijerina, Annalissa Tijerina Castro and Husband Cruz Castro, Victoria Sanchez Frias, and husband John Ray Frias Jr.; grandchildren, Jonathan Tijerina, Elisa Tijerina, Ricky Tijerina, Aryssa Tijerina, Amara Tijerina, Athen Tijerina, Haley Brown, Samantha Brown, AJ Brown, Juan Carlos Frias, John Ray Frias III, Jordan Tijerina, Jayden Frias, Angelo Frias, Juliana Coronado, Joseph Coronado JR., Jazlyn Frias, Santino Frias, Vitaliya Frias, Amaris Frias and Eliyanah Frias, and one great grandchild on the way. Two brothers, Johnny Tijerina, Vincent Tijerina (Angel); three sisters: Rachel Juarez (Frank), Paula Crist and Cynthia Caballero.
He is preceded in death by his father, Vicente Tijerina Sr.; mother, Amelia Guzman Tijerina; brothers, Felix Tijerina, Edward Tijerina and Fermin Tijerina, and sisters, Crisilda Tijerina and Carmen Tijerina.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 9:00-11:00 AM. Services 11:00 AM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin, Tx. (604 Highway 95 North Elgin, Tx 78621). Interment will follow at Alta Vista Cemetery.
