Pauline G. Hannemann

Pauline Gindorf Hannemann was born on May 14, 1929 to Paul and Hattie Wehmeyer Gindorf in Brenham, TX. She passed away Friday, February 16, 2018

She was baptized in the Christian faith on June 23, 1929 at Zion Lutheran Church in Zionsville, TX and confirmed on April 2, 1944 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brenham, TX.

Pauline graduated from Brenham High School in 1946 and from Texas Lutheran College with a BA in Education in 1950.  Her first teaching job was at LaGrange Junior High School.

Pauline met her love, August Hannemann while attending TLC and they were married on June 15, 1952 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brenham, TX.

After their marriage they moved to Lamesa, TX to serve the Lutheran Church and Pauline taught and was the church organist.  They moved to Columbus, OH for Auggie to finish his degree where Pauline taught third grade at White Hall ISD.  After Auggie graduated from seminary they returned to Texas to serve several Lutheran congregations including First American Lutheran in Olney, St. Paul in Baytown, Martin Luther in Carmine, St. Paul in Hondo, St. Peter’s in Elgin, St. John in Paige and St. Andrew in Paint Creek.

They started their family and after having four children, Pauline returned to teaching.  She taught in the Round Top – Carmine ISD.  In Hondo, Pauline taught Texas and American History and had three of her four children as students in her classes.  In Elgin, Pauline taught third grade for 15 years.  She ended her teaching career at Elgin Elementary in 1990.  Pauline and Auggie enjoyed being members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Elgin.  She volunteered at Elgin Nursing Care as the “bingo caller”.  Auggie and Pauline were active members of AARP and the German Club in Elgin.

Pauline and Auggie moved to San Antonio in October 2012.

Pauline was also known as Omi and enjoyed having the family together and knowing what each member was doing.   She looked forward to going to church on Sundays.

Pauline is survived by her husband of 65 years, Auggie, her sister, Estelle Zimmerman of San Antonio, sister-in-law, Claribel Hannemann of Fredericksburg, children – Stephen and wife, Beth Hannemann of Hondo, Joel Hannemann of Friendswood, Valerie Richey of Houston, and John and wife, Teresa Hannemann of Bulverde.  Grandchildren – Nicole Hannemann and fiancé, Jeff Hartman  , Julia and husband, Jacob Stone, Hallie Hannemann , Kenton Hannemann, Russell Richey, Grace Hannemann and Silas Hannemann and numerous  nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Hattie Gindorf, Brothers in law and sister in law – Anita Hannemann, Fred and Peggy Hannemann, Hilmer and Cora Dittmar, Waldemar Hannemann, Raymond Hannemann, Eugene and Margaret Hannemann, Hans and Dorthy Hannemann.

A visitation will be held 9:30 AM Tuesday, February 20, 2018, St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with a Celebration of Pauline's Life beginning at 10:30 AM. Graveside Services will follow at 4:00 PM in the Greenwood Cemetery, Fredericksburg, TX
