Dr. Irvin McCorkle passed into the presence of the Lord on Friday, June 7th, 2024. He was born July 8th, 1939 in Yakima, Washington to Vera and Glen McCorkle. He entered the ministry as a young adult and spent over 60 years pastoring churches in Oklahoma City, Dallas, Indianapolis,
Beaumont, Elgin and presiding as the President over Deliverance Temple International, a ministerial organization started by his parents in the 1950’s. He came to Elgin, TX in 1988 to take the role of senior pastor at the Coon-Neck Community Church now known as the Family
Worship Center where he actively served until the time of his passing. He was an avid fisherman, collector, tradesman, and traveler. He was a talented and passionate singer and guitar player, both live and in the recording studio. His booming freight-train voice was easily recognized and instantly comforting, and he had a tradition on Christmas Eve of leading all of his grandchildren in Christmas carols around the tree. He was a jokester, lovingly full of teasing and punch-lines that could put a smile on anyone's face. His ornery streak was only outdone by his giant gentle heart. He was a father to many, able to wrangle and subdue even the most animated members of his community, manly and tough but never afraid to reveal the tenderness of his heart. He believed firmly and fully in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and nothing brought him more joy or put more twinkle in his eye than telling people about the Lord and watching them meet the Lord for the first time.
