Myra Jane Preston

Myra Jane Preston of Elgin, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 28, 2018.  Jane was born in San Marcos, TX to E. L. and Ruthie Carter on June 27, 1948.  She truly loved the Lord and was active in her local church, Family Worship Center of Elgin.  She loved collecting angel figurines, playing a good game of 42, and reading a good book. Jane was an excellent cook and enjoyed traveling, especially to Colorado and Arkansas.  She also loved spending time with friends and family and was her happiest while “making music” with them or spinning “Carter tales.”

Jane is survived by her husband, Marion Preston of Elgin, TX; daughter, Kim Pruneda and husband Jaime Pruneda of Elgin, TX;  daughter, Cassie Rhoades of Austin, Texas, seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Jane is also survived by six siblings, Kenneth W. Carter of Arlington, TX; Grace Shue and husband Darwin of Ennis, TX; Lawrence Z. Carter and wife Peggy of Mansfield, TX; Leslie D. Carter and wife Kim of Elgin, TX; Nelda Dodd and husband Bobby of Elgin, TX; and Ricky D. Carter and wife Pam, of Elgin, TX.  She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, who all loved her dearly.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Eulen “Bub” Carter and Ruthie Carter Wilhite; brother, Gilbert Lamar Carter; and son, Christopher Morgan Preston.

Jane was quite the family jokester.  She loved to laugh, but loved making others laugh even more.  We will miss her smile, her dry sense of humor and her warm hugs.  Jane truly knew how to seek the Lord and has now received her final reward; spending eternity in His presence.
