Minnie Jean Brown

Minnie Jean Brown, 90, of Austin, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 28, 2025. She was the wife to Leroy Brown of 69 wonderful years, mother to 3 children, Memaw to 6 grandkids and 4 great grandkids. 

She was born on February 2, 1935, in Webberville, Texas, to William Crawford Dailey and Pearl Stowers. She attended Elgin school and lettered in basketball, volleyball and softball. She worked at Hornsby Bend Elementary for 30 years and taught Sunday School for 40+ years. She enjoyed hosting, cooking, baking, travelling with Leroy, sewing clothes for her kids and grandkids, gardening, canning, and keeping her grandchildren every summer. She had the sharpest memory and quick witty comebacks, always so positive, generous and humble. She had a pure servants heart and always ready to help someone in need. 

Minnie is preceded in death by mother Pearl Stowers, father William “PaPete” Crawford Dailey, husband Leroy Brown, siblings Milton, Red, Poncho, Mildred, Tom D, Dub, Pearlie, David Wayne, Truman, Larry, and grandchildren RJ Brown-Anglin and Rebecca Shumaker. 

Minnie is survived by her children Randal Brown, LR & Nikki Brown, Carolyn & Wade Shumaker; Grandchildren Ashley & Greg Smith, Josh & Jen Brown, Caitlyn & Steven Voelker, Kelsey & Cole Bolton, Great grandchildren Mark & Harper Smith, Nora & Beckett Voelker. 

A viewing visitation will be Wednesday, March 5, from 6-8pm, with an opportunity to share stories at 7pm. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 6 at 1pm. These services will be held at Providence-Jones Funeral Home in Elgin. Burial will follow at JJ Manor Cemetery, 20800 Sandy Brown Lane, Webberville, Texas, 78621.

Thank you to the caregivers who went above and beyond. Each of you were very special and I can’t thank you enough for the care you gave my momma. You have a special place in our hearts and we will be forever grateful.
