Mary Ellen Elliott

Mary Ellen Elliott passed away peacefully on July 9, 2018 at the age of 79.  She is survived by her son Bruce (Tammie) Elliott of Elgin, daughter Sandy (Shane) Harris of Elgin, granddaughter Jennifer (Chris) Faulkner of Aledo, grandson Cade (Kathryn) Harris of Austin, grandson Cory (Kara) Harris of Lexington, great grandchildren Avery, Alli, Lylah, Zachary and Owen, brother Richard (Cathy) Tippie of Liberty Hill, brother David (Stephanie) Tippie of Florida, brother Harold (Gaye) Elliott of Temple and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Wayne Elliott.

Mary Ellen was born March 23, 1939 in Austin, Texas to Bernard Miller and Dorothy Ferris Tippie.  She spent the first half of her life in Austin where she and her husband met, married and raised their children.  After their children were grown, they moved from Austin to the family farm, which became affectionately known as Elliottville, to raise their grandchildren.  Mary Ellen was loved by many as all were welcome in her home for regular home cooked meals and her unwavering hospitality.  Her house on the hill was always the gathering location for countless birthdays, Christmases and summer days by the pool.  She was a lifelong entrepreneur and, after raising a family, became a Real Estate Broker and the owner and operator of Rent-A-Car in San Marcos.  She went on to spend the rest of her career as the owner and operator of Universal Auto Title in Austin.  After retiring, she and her husband spent much of their time attending live country music and dancing with beloved friends across the endless dancehalls of Texas.

A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday July 11, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home in Elgin, TX.  A graveside service will be held at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home and Cemetery in Pflugerville, TX at 2:00 pm on July 12, 2018.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mary Ellen’s life.
