Maria (Maya) Martinez

Maya G. Martinez, 53 entered into eternal peace on Friday May, 20 2017. After a long and difficult battle with colon cancer she came home to be with her family under hospice care.

Maya was born October 27, 1963 in Sinton, Texas the daughter of the late Raul O. Gonzales and Amparo C. Gonzales. She graduated from Sinton High School in 1982. She had an amazing work ethic that started at the age of 16. She was very involved with her church as a youth and enjoyed at serving her community. She married Mario Martinez on October 12, 1985. They moved to the Austin area and then their final residence in Elgin, Texas. She worked for over 21 year at Classic/Peske in Round Rock, Tx.

Maya was a member of CrossWind Church for +10 years and loved ministering and was very active with church community. She always had a loving and generous heart for her friends, family, strangers and animals. Some of her favorite hobbies included fishing, knitting, crafting, and extreme couponing which she shared with friends and family.

She was survived by her husband, Mario Martinez of 32 years and devoted sons, Marcos Vicente Martinez and Mario Enrique Martinez, her mother Amparo C. Gonzales, her siblings, Rosalinda G. Reyna and her husband Roger Reyna, Joe Rey Gonzales and wife Linda Gonzales, Raul O. Gonzales and wife Jeanette Gonzales. She also leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her loving nieces and nephews: Kami, Kasi, Kali Renya, Alexis, Jay, Victoria Gonzales, Stephanie, Ashley, Marissa, Jessica, Raquel Gonzales and numerous other relatives.

A visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Sunday, May 21, 2017, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Maya's Life will be held 11:00 AM Monday, May 22nd, Providence-Jones Family Chapel. Interment will follow in the Elgin Latin Cemetery.
