Maria H. Martinez

Maria Martinez, of Elgin, passed away Thursday morning, April 13, 2017, at the age of 78.

She was the daughter of Solomon and Anastasia Hernandez, born in Elgin, Texas on April 14, 1938. She was a long time resident of Elgin and touched the lives of all those who knew her. Maria was the sweetest, most patient, most giving, and always put everyone else before herself. She always enjoyed having her sons and daughter and their families over. Family was and always will be what she loved and cherished, and will always keep in her heart forever.

Maria is preceded in death by both her parents.

She is survived by her sister Janie Garza of Manor, TX; One daughter, Marylou Rodriguez of Manor, TX; Three sons, John Martinez of Elgin, TX; Pete Martinez of Elgin, TX; Victor Martinez Jr., of Elgin, TX; Nine Grandchildren, and Fifteen Great-Grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday, April 17, 2017 Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 P.M.  A Funeral Mass officiated by Father Jim will be held at 10:00 A.M Tuesday, April 18, 2017 Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment to follow at the Elgin Latin Cemetery.
