Margy Ray Danklefs

Margy Ray Davenport Danklefs of Elgin, Texas passed away on July 7, 2018 at the age of 94.

Margy was born to parents Wayne Andrew Davenport and Mary Emma Arbuckle Davenport on November 15, 1923 in Elgin, Texas.  She loved singing in the Methodist Church choir and participating in church activities with her friends.

Margy was Salutatorian of her Elgin High School graduating class.  While attending college at Mary Hardin Baylor she was awarded the title of “Most Beautiful”.  After retiring from the Texas Education Agency, she was able to travel, raise her beloved cocker spaniels, garden and play the piano.  She enjoyed spending time in her pickup truck driving around the family farm and was very proud of it’s recognition as a Texas Century Farm in 1994.

Margy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She is survived by her daughter Katherine Danklefs: grandson Danny Wayne Lewis and his wife Heather and great-grandson Hank Wayne; grandson John Bateman and his wife Annette and great-granddaughter Sandra.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 6-8pm on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 11 at 11 AM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home at 604 Hwy. 95 North, Elgin, Texas 78621 (512) 281-2340 followed by interment at Elgin Cemetery.
