Mae D Mcclendon

November 22, 1935 — July 16, 2022

Mae Dell Townsend McClendon was born to the late Modell and Lois Brown Townsend on November 22, 1935, in Littig, Texas.  She attended Littig Public School.  She later attended the School of Nursing in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she worked in several hospitals as a Nurse’s Aide.

Mae accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age and became a member at Shiloh Baptist Church.

She later married Eldridge McClendon, a Sergeant in the United States Air Force.  They lived the military life living in many states and overseas.

Mae moved back to Texas, where she reunited with Shiloh Baptist Church. She served at Shiloh as an Usher, Mission I, Finance Committee, and Hospitality.

Mae had one sister, Ruthie M. Townsend Darby, and five brothers Theodore Townsend, Van Washington, Jr., George Washington, Jewel Washington, and James Washington preceding her in death.

Mae leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Ruby Townsend Williams, special nephew, Donald Darby, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Shiloh Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Littig Cemetery.
