Luther Draehn

Luther Draehn, age 79, of Coupland, Texas, passed away on October 3, 2022. Luther was born on August 25, 1943, in Brenham, Texas, to Willie and Selma (Emshoff) Draehn. He attended Brenham High School.

On November 11, 1962, he married Evelyn Ruth Fischer. He worked as an engineer and union carpenter. He served with the Coupland Volunteer Fire Department for over 15 years and acted as the Financial Officer and Assistant Chief. Luther loved woodworking, carpentry, and fishing. He never met a stranger, and his family knew that whenever Luther raised his hand a wagged his finger he had “one more thing to say.”

Luther is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Selma, his brothers, Elwood, Jimmy, Roger, and Glen Draehn, his sister, Lillie Mae, his nephews, William and Russell Draehn, and his sister and brother-in-law, Esther and George Rhodes.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Evelyn Draehn, his son, Kevin Draehn, his daughter, Kimberly Draehn, his grandchildren, Ashlea (Eric) Gilliland, Garrett Draehn, Joshua (Milan) Kimberly, Amanda (Matthew) Schaffer, and Kalli Coffey, his six great grandchildren, Mikaila and Maddox Gilliland, Parker and Wyatt Schaffer, and Kinley and Reagan Kimberly, his brothers, Willie Jr. (Marjorie), Lee (Hannelore), Gene (Jo Ann), and Allen Draehn, his sisters, Diane (Ted) Sager, and Geraldine Rybarski, sisters and brothers-in-law, Marvin and Esther Fischer and Walline and George Lorenz, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elgin or to Silverado Austin Hospice.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at 10:00 AM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home.
