Lou Jean Arbuckle

December 31, 1931 — February 8, 2025

Our beautiful Mother and Nanna, Lou Jean Krebs Arbuckle, passed away suddenly but peacefully on February 8th, 2025. She is now living with our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Lou was born on December 31st, 1931, in Shelby County, Texas on her parents’ farm. She attended school in Fayetteville and graduated Valedictorian of her class. After high school, she attended and graduated from Blinn College. Upon graduation, Lou moved to Austin where she was introduced to her future husband, W.E., by a mutual friend. They married on January 17th, 1953, and moved to Elgin. They were married for 57 years until his death in 2010.

Once Lou became a mother, she spent endless hours tending to her children and remodeling and decorating their home. She was also an expert seamstress and spent hours upon hours sewing clothes and costumes for her girls. She was passionate about gardening and had a beautiful flower bed consisting of azaleas and roses. Her flower garden was so eye-catching that people passing by would stop and snap pictures of the landscaping.

Lou was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church. She served on many committees and as a Sunday School teacher and VBS teacher. She was very active in the UMW group and was instrumental in the design of the Chrismon tree that is still in use every Christmas.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents, K.B. and Emma Krebs, her sister, Roxie, her husband, W.E. Arbuckle, Jr., and beloved grandson, Trey. She is survived by her four daughters, Roxanne and husband, Andy, Cindy and husband, Robert, Jacque, and Melissa and husband, Randy. She loved and adored her nine grandchildren, Melanie, Amanda, Emily, Rebecca, Darien, Lauren, Cameron, Tyler, and Shelbi, and her 12 great grandchildren, Greyson, Theo, Andrew, Grant, Ella, Cole, Clark, Luke, Dylan, Berkeley, Emma, and Kai.

Lou loved life and enjoyed entertaining. She hosted many bridge games with her bridge group and she was always ready to prepare a meal for anyone who walked through the door. Many hours were spent in their backyard around the pool. We will all miss our wonderful and loving Mother and Nanna.

Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 216 West Third Street, Elgin, Texas, beginning at 2:00 p.m. on February 16th, 2025, with interment at the Elgin Cemetery. A reception will be at the church after the graveside service.
