Lloyd Browne Morrison, 77, of Lexington, Texas, passed away on November 2, 2024. Born on August 1, 1947, in Austin, Texas, Lloyd was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His deep love for family, passion for golf, and dedication to the Texas ranching and equestrian communities touched countless lives.
He was the beloved son of Lucille Browne Morrison and Hugh Lloyd Morrison. A 1965 graduate of Austin High School, he went on to attend the University of Houston, where he played on the golf team before he returned to Austin to pursue a career as an Assistant Golf Professional at Morris Williams Golf Course. Soon after, he served as the Head Golf Professional at both Lions Municipal and Hancock Golf Courses. His career in golf was marked by numerous accolades and achievements, including his initiation into the Professional Golf Association in 1969, his induction into the Austin Sports Hall of Fame, and receiving the PGA Half Century Member Award. He was especially proud of founding the Lions Spring Partnership in 1978, which remains a treasured tournament in the area. Lloyd's passion for giving back to the community was evident in every aspect of his life. As co-founder of the Austin Junior Golf Academy, he dedicated countless hours to nurturing the love of the sport in young players. Through his mentorship, thousands of youngsters found guidance, inspiration, and encouragement to pursue their dreams both on and off the golf course. In recognition of his unwavering commitment and service, Lloyd was honored with the prestigious George Hannon Society Distinguished Service Award in 2013. His legacy of generosity and mentorship leaves an indelible mark on generations to come. His greatest accomplishment was his unwavering love and support of his wife, daughter and granddaughter.
Lloyd was an avid outdoorsman and had a deep love for showing cutting horses, ranching, hunting, and golfing. He also enjoyed seeking out great food and visiting restaurants, savoring the joy of good meals shared with family and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his only granddaughter, Lena Lucille White, whom he watched proudly as she continued his legacy in the cutting horse community. Lloyd’s dedication to his family extended into his involvement in various organizations, including the American Quarter Horse Association, the National Cutting Horse Association, and the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Linda Morrison; his daughter, LeaAnne White, and son-in-law, Jon Harrison White; and his beloved granddaughter, Lena Lucille White. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Browne Morrison and Hugh Lloyd Morrison.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled to follow the church service at the NCHA Futurity at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum on Sunday, December 1, 2024, in Fort Worth, Texas. An additional Memorial Service is being planned at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin, Texas for the Spring of 2025.
