Leland Harris Ockelberry

Leland was called from his earthly home on May 21, 2019 at his home in Bastrop, Texas.

On November 19, 1939 a baby was born, Leland Harris Ockelberry Sr., to Willie Ockelberry and Wilma Robinson in Cedar Creek, Texas. He was well known as teddy Ockelberry. Leland professed a life in Christ and was baptized at an early age. He was a graduate of Bastrop County Public High School in the class of 1955. He loved being a jack of all trades. His passions were fishing, gardening, and cooking. He was a hard working employee for Faulkner USA Construction Company for over twenty plus years.

Leland was united in Holy Matrimony to Ruby Barnett on August 9, 1963 and to this union seven children were born. Leland was a loving father, a great grandfather, uncle brother and friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Ockelberry and Wilma Robinson, his two brothers, Willie James Ockelberry and Jesse Lee Ockelberry, his sister Lola Mae Duvall, his father-in-law Clyde Barnett, and son-in-law Stanley Kirby.

Leland leaves to cherish his precious memories, wife Ruby Ockelberry of Bastrop, his five sons; Leland II, Jerry, Willie (Beverly), Randy, Mark (Tammy), his two daughters Valerie Kirby and Roxann Ockelberry (Jerry) all of Bastrop, Texas. He leaves twenty two grandchildren, thirty three great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandson. He is also survived by two sisters Rose lee Presley of Austin, Texas and Leslie Prescott of Elgin, Texas, mother-in-law Helen Barnett and a host of loving nieces, nephews, numerous relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Leland’s life will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 25, 2019 Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Interment to follow at the Shiloh Cemetery.
