LaVerne Marie Casey Hibbs, born November 8, 1929 in Lund, Texas passed peacefully into the hands of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 23, 2025.

LaVerne is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby, to whom she was married for 67 years and her parents, Marvin and Lillie Casey, brothers. Marvin, Jr, and Raymond Casey.

She is survived by her son, Bobby Hibbs and wife, Gina, daughter, Gayle Graham, and husband, David, and her son, Billy Hibbs and wife Cindy. LaVerne and Bobby had nine grandchildren; Terry Hibbs, Jennifer Norton and husband B.C., Nicholas Hibbs and wife Brook-lyn, Aaron Hibbs and wife Amanda, Tyler Graham and wife Naia, Mitchell Hibbs and wife Ana, Amanda Martinez and husband Victor, Angelique Hibbs, and Casey Russell and husband Colton . They had 21 great grandchildren. LaVerne also leaves behind her faithful and caring friend, Joslyn Lott.

LaVerne worked as a switchboard operator at Breckenridge Hospital and Gracy Title Company for 33 years. Bobby and LaVerne trained and raced hundreds of greyhounds with much success all over the United States. They operated a racing kennel at Gulf Greyhound Park, where they won the inaugural race with a greyhound named Ready to Nod. LaVerne worked tirelessly on the greyhound farm, with as many as 400 greyhounds, while keeping her employment at Gracy Title Company. LaVerne’s last employer was Brad Jones of Providence-Jones funeral home where she served as a greeter at the young age of 90 years old.

LaVerne is leaving a legacy of the heart of a servant. The rich and poor graced her table, enjoying the best food on planet Earth, along with her famous cream and fried pies, and too many “catfish head” biscuits to number.

The family would like to thank Rockdale Nursing and Rehab Center in Rockdale, Texas for the loving care extended to her. Also, much love and appreciation to Dr. Edward Chafizadeh and Lori Kelly for many years of love and excellent cardiology care.
