Julius Darrell Bostic

January 30, 1937 — May 18, 2018

Julius Darrell Bostic, age 81, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at his home in McDade, Texas.    Visitation is from 6:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Providence-Jones Funeral Home in Elgin, Texas.  Burial will be in the Lawhon Springs Cemetery at a private graveside service with Rev. David Atwood officiating.

Julius was born January 30, 1937 in Lee County near the Knobbs Springs community.  He graduated from Lexington High School in 1954.  He attended the University of Texas and Southwest Texas State University until he joined the Army in 1956 where he served until 1958.  Julius married Joyce Hobbs on January 3, 1959 in McDade, Texas.  He later joined the Austin Fire Department and retired as Lieutenant after 30 years of service.

In his younger years, Julius was an avid drag racer and was well known for his 1941 Willys.  He also spent many hours on his bulldozer clearing and shaping land.  In his latter years, he was busy restoring old cars and spending time with his grandsons.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Joyce Bostic of McDade; one son, Louis Bostic and wife, Wanda Bostic of Elgin; daughter Cathy Crim and husband, Travis Crim of Lexington, Karen Bostic Main and her husband, Bob Main of McDade; 2 grandchildren, Michael Bostic of Austin and John Bostic of Elgin.
