Joy Cole Fromme passed away on February 23, 2023. Daughter of Mason G. and Ida Belle Cole, Joy would have been 100 years old in less than 2 months.
Born April 14, 1923, she is survived by her two children, Chuck and Kim Fromme, daughter-in-law Debbie Fromme, son-in law Kevin Jones. Joy was so proud of her three grandchildren Melinda Zoch, Craig Fromme and his wife Ami, Ryan Fromme and his wife Codie. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: B. J. and Faith Zoch, Grace, Gunnar, and Gatlin Fromme, and Ryan Lane Fromme. Joy was the devoted wife of Charlie Fromme who passed away February 9, 1994.
Joy was a native Elginite her entire life, and in her remaining years she frequently talked about her fond memories of Elgin. She brought smiles to many children through her work in the Elgin primary school, and remained active in the Elgin community (e.g., Food Pantry) where she lived until entering assisted living.
Initially a member of the Central Christian church, Joy later joined the Presbyterian church where her husband Charlie and other Fromme members found their spiritual home.
Joy lived as her name implies. She brought joy to everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed, but also appreciated for the 99 years of inspiration she gave us all.
A Celebration of Joy's Life will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 1, 2023, First Presbyterian Church in Elgin. She will be laid to rest in the Elgin Cemetery
