Jose Alfredo Nunez

June 19, 1958 — December 14, 2020

Jose Alfredo Nunez was called Home by our Lord on Dec. 14th, 2020.  He was born on June 19th, 1958 in Austin, TX.  He was a lifetime resident of Elgin, TX and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.   Jose was also a proud U.S. Marine Veteran, who served as an infantryman with the 5th Marines Regiment, 1st Marine Division stationed out of Camp Pendleton, CA.

To his Family & Friends, Jose was simply known as "Joe".  As a devoted Husband & Father, Joe spent much of his time with his family.  He enjoyed sports, fishing, gardening, playing his guitars and volunteering in his community coaching youth football in Elgin.  Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Mary Helen Nunez Ubias along with 4 children:   Joe Alfred Nunez Jr, Juan Manuel Nunez, Migel Angel Nunez, Janis Nunez and 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 brothers and 6 sisters.

Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Janie Tamez Nunez and his father, Samuel Reyna Nunez Sr.  Also preceding him in death are his 2 brothers, Albert Nunez and Samuel Nunez Jr. and sister, Rebecca Johnson.  In final, Joe left behind a lasting legacy of love, joy and loyalty with both his family and his community.

A visitation will be held Friday, December 18, 2020 from 6:00-8:00pm at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home with a recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00pm. A Celebration of Mass Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elgin. Interment will follow at the Elgin Latin Cemetery.
