Joe C. Martinez, Sr.

Joe C. Martinez, Sr., of Taylor, Texas, gained his angel wings on December 31, 2020 at S&W Hospital in Round Rock, Texas at the age of 81.

He was born in Taylor, Texas. He married the love of his life, Susie Flores Martinez, and from this marriage were blessed with two sons, Joe Martinez, Jr. and Adam Martinez.

Joe worked alongside his wife at the UT as custodians for many years until retirement. He loved to fish, spend time with all his grandchildren, and lately, with his great grandchildren. His all-time favorite was relaxing in his recliner and watching his favorite football team, the Washington Redskins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie, his son, Joe, Jr., his mother, Margarita Martinez, grandmother, Francisca Cortinas, and brother, Ray Martinez.

Joe is survived by his son, Adam Martinez and his wife, Lina, grandchildren, JohnAdam Martinez and his wife, Kelly, Melanie Martinez, Amanda Martinez, Elizabeth Martinez, Bianca Martinez, and Elli Martinez, and great grandchildren:  Jaiden, Lucas, Ayce, Bria, Jacob, Cooper, Nicolas, Modesty, Renee, Gaby, and Jordan. All loved him dearly.

He is also survived by his sisters, Lillie Meier of Thrall, Texas, Virginia Dominguez of Round Rock, Texas, Emily Ojeda and her husband, Orlando, of Hutto, Texas, Lupe Rico and her husband, Epifanio, of Round Rock, Texas, brother, Frank Chapa and his wife, Martina, of Marbank, Texas, and sister-in-law, Amelia Martinez.

Pallbearers are George Jonse, David Jonse, Tomas Rodriguez, Michale Zapata, Dell Buckalew, and Paul Trevino. JohnAdam Martinez is an honorary pallbearer.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
