Jerry Douglas Wilson

Jerry Douglas Wilson, age 65, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 10, 2018. He was known by family and friends as Doug.

Doug was born on a Wednesday, March 12, 1952 in Rhome, Texas. After graduating from Northwest High School in 1970, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. The dedication, sense of duty, and   honor that Doug learned in the Navy served him well throughout his life. Following his service in the Navy, Doug became a welder and family man and finally settled in Elgin in 1987. He loved to sing and playing the guitar, however, it was his love for family that made him the hardest working man anyone knew until losing his sight in 2010.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 37 years, Pamela Wilson, brothers Donnie and David Earl, daughter Cristal Ruddell and her husband Chris, son Devin Brock and his wife Alissa, daughter Malinda Thompson and her husband Brian, daughter Rene Wilson and husband Casey, daughter Amanda Wilson, grandchildren, Abby, Aaron, Anna, Jamie, Caroline, Tyler, Jeremy, Celeste, Easton, Mackenzie, Joshua, Caiden, Mason, Cameron, Hanna, Addison, Brooklyn and great grandchildren Carson, Cason, Cora. Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Malinda Wilson.

Although we will never understand why he had to experience the last few years of his life like he did, we thank God for allowing this man to be a part of our lives. We know without a doubt that his vision is restored, and he is rejoicing in Heaven with those who preceded him.

A Celebration of Doug’s Life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 17, 2018, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home Chapel.
