Janice Kay Schroeder, age 80, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2024. Born and raised in Elgin, Texas, Jan was a pillar of strength and dedication to her community. Her commitment to public service was evident through her roles on the Elgin Chamber of Commerce, Elgin City Council and as Mayor of Elgin. She was also an esteemed member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Janice’s entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she transformed a small flower shop into a successful franchise of three Hallmark Stores over the years. Her business acumen was matched only by her love and devotion to her family. She was born on September 8, 1944 to Jewel and Joe Lee Sanders. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur Schroeder, Jr. and son Ahren Schroeder.
Jan’s legacy continues through her son Clint and wife Surenda Schroeder; daughter Merritt and husband Mike Telfeyan; and beloved grandchildren Victoria Jewel, Savannah, EmmaLeigh, and Sutton.
Janice will be remembered for her unwavering strength, her dedication to service, and her boundless love for her family and community.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2024 and a celebration of Jan’s life will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 30, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, Elgin, Texas.
In leu of flower’s memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Jans’s Memory
