James Lee Stanesic

James Lee Stanesic, age 57, lost his battle to cancer on May 18, 2020 at his home in Austin, Texas.

James was born on October 26, 1962 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Robert William Stanesic and Lou Renee Stanesic. In his life, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University and served honorably in the Unites States Navy where he received a Navy Commendation Medal. James started his law enforcement career as an Austin Park Police but later transferred to Austin Police Department. There he served on Motors Unit and the Organized Crime Division. James retired honorably from the Austin Police Department with 25 years of service to the City of Austin. He was very dedicated to his work and achieved Master Peace Officer, got certified as a Mental Health Officer, Police Instructor, Court Security Specialist, and received 24 commendations.After retiring from APD, James went to work for Travis County Constable Precinct 4, and served till the time of his passing.

James was a great provider to his loved ones and was loved and respected by many. His kids were his pride and joy, and he loved spending time with them. James also enjoyed running throughout his military career, watching movies, cleaning his gun, going to the gun range, and tactical training. He is survived by his daughter, Hannah Stanesic; sons, James Stanesic and Dustin Bullock and their mother, Sylvia Stanesic; his mother, Lou Renee Stanesic; brothers, David Michael and Larry John Stanesic; sisters, Jeanne Marie Stanesic and Carol Ann Stevens. He is predeceased by his father, Robert William Stanesic and brothers, Rick Alan and Steven Bruce Stanesic.

A Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday, May 21, 2020, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of James' Life will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 22, 2020 Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. Interment to follow at the Elgin Latin Cemetery.
