Howard Henry Lundgren

December 17, 1930 — February 19, 2022

Howard Henry Lundgren went home to be with the Lord on February 19, 2022. Howard, the youngest of six children, was born on December 17, 1930 in Manor, Texas to Carl and Mable (Carlson) Lundgren. He is survived by his son, Warren Lundgren and wife, Catherine, three grandsons, Garrett Lundgren and wife, Ashley, Trevor Lundgren and wife, Breanne, and Clayton Lundgren. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Brooke, Elliott, and Hayes, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of over 51 years, Willella, special companion and friend, Glenda Swenson, three brothers, Raymond, Carl, Jr., and wife, Dorothy, and James, two sisters, Lillian Spillman and husband, Bill and Doris Pannell and husband, William.

Howard grew up and lived his entire life in the Kimbro community where he had a successful farming and ranching career for 60 years. Howard learned to farm at an early age and had to eventually quit school to take care of the family farm due to the death of his father and his brothers leaving for World War II. Later, he would meet the love of his life, Willella, and they were married in 1952. After serving in the Army, he returned to Kimbro and began his farming and ranching career.

Howard was a lifelong member of New Sweden Lutheran Church where he served on the church council numerous times. He also served on various community organizations, such as the Travis County Co-op Gin Board of Directors, the Farmers Home Administration Board, the Swedish Insurance Board, and was a Manda School Trustee. In 1969, he was the Area Conservationist of the Year and, in 2009, he received Outstanding Agriculturist of the Year award from the Greater Elgin Chamber of Commerce.

Howard, a humble and hard worker, was also a fun-loving man who always had time for his family and friends. For many years, he hosted friends at his home early in the mornings before everyone headed out to their jobs or farms.

The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to all the staff and caregivers at Buckner Villas, SeniorMinded Home Care, and IPH Hospice for their dedicated and tender care during these last few months.
