Harvey Cox

Harvey Cox, of Elgin, Texas passed away on Friday December 2, 2022, at the age of 72.

Harvey was born in Austin, Texas on June 25, 1950, to George Howard and Mary Lee Cox. Harvey was born into a large family of 12 brothers and sisters.

On April 6, 1970, Harvey would marry the love of his life, Phyllis Cox, whom he leaves behind after a strong 52 years of marriage.

Harvey would also go on to serve our country during the Vietnam war as a proud member of the 101 ^st airborne division. Once out of the military, Harvey pursued a career in law, serving as a corrections officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, receiving numerous awards and nominations during his time as a corrections officer until he retired. In his retirement, he found joy in spending time with his wife and family as well as gardening, telling stories and jokes, and seeing friends.

Harvey was preceded in death by his mother and father, along with a few of his older siblings, and his son, Jeremy Cox of Elgin, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Cox of Elgin, Texas; his daughter, Misty Cox of Elgin, Texas; his granddaughters, Rebecca and Anna Cox, of Elgin, Texas; his grandson, Brian Cox of Elgin, Texas; and his great-grandson, Adrian Cox, along with many siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Harvey was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed, strongly loved, and never forgotten.
