Harry Lee Hosea

Harry Lee Hosea, a cherished member of the First Baptist Church of Elgin, TX, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born on November 12, 1938, to loving parents Edward Hosea and Mamie Bell Hosea. Harry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. He had a passion for the outdoors and especially loved hunting and fishing with his sons. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Some of Harry’s fondest memories were of the time he spent with his sons, sharing their mutual love for hunting and fishing. An avid outdoorsman, Harry found joy in nature, whether fishing, gardening, or cooking, and his happiest moments were those spent surrounded by family and the beauty of the outdoors.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Verlyne Hosea, and his sons, Gary Hosea and wife Terry, and Gregory Hosea. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Jeff Woodfin and sisters-in-law, Shirley Hosea-Yantis, Maxine Dominey. Harry cherished his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Samantha Glover and husband Eric, Brittney Harden and husband Rick, and Haley Bullock and husband Brenden, and great-grandchildren Tanner, Emrys, Everett, and Wesley, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edward Hosea and Mamie Bell Hosea, his brothers Harold, Ray and Herbert Hosea, sister Carol Jean Hutson, sisters-in-law Laura Hosea, Fay Hosea, Joyce Hoffman and Barbara Jean Woodfin, and brothers-in-law James Hutson and Leonard Dominey.

His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, but his legacy of love, faith, and devotion will remain a guiding light for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A Visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00PM on Thursday September 26, 2024 at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home Chapel, 604 Hwy 95 N., Elgin, Texas 78621.

The Graveside service will start at 11:00AM on Friday September 27, 2024 at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, 229 Pleasant Grove Loop, Elgin, Texas 78621, followed by a luncheon at First Baptist Church of Elgin, 13916 County Line Rd, Elgin, TX 78621.
