Grady Ray Edwards, Jr., 62, went on to be with the Lord on January 23, 2023, with his family by his side in Austin, Texas.
Grady Ray was born on September 26, 1960, to Dorothy and the late Grady Ray Edwards, Sr. From birth, he never knew a stranger, and as the baby of the family – and the only boy – his momma and sisters were sure to spoil him rotten.
Grady Ray started attending Knobbs Springs Baptist Church as a teenager. He accepted Christ as his Savior at 17 and was baptized in a tank by Brother Geary McManus who was almost drowned for his efforts. Ray led with his faith and remained a pillar of Knobbs Springs throughout his life.
On November 23, 1979, he was lucky enough to marry his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Terri Sue. They were blessed with four children and five grandchildren. Of all his accomplishments, of which there were many, his family was always his greatest source of pride.
Grady Ray was a wonderful provider and a hard worker his entire life. He was given the opportunity to learn the ceramic tile trade from his father-in-law and two brothers-in-law. In 1993, when he took over Elgin Tile, he worked hard to ensure that the legacy of high quality craftmanship was maintained and the company remained something that would make his father-in-law proud.
He was known for his handsome smile and a heart bigger than his cowboy hat. He loved to tell stories about those he loved most to anyone who would listen. If you were ever blessed enough to stand in a line with him, you were sure to leave it with a smile.
He is preceded in death by his father, Grady Ray Edwards, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Terri; his children, Johnathan (Jania Boemer), Sarah (Brian Klaus), Alyssa (Keith Ruckus), and Rachel (Kenny Merrell); his grandchildren, Owen and Samantha Klaus, Amos and Birdie Merrell, and Grady Edwards; his mother, Dorothy Edwards, and two sisters; Shirley Baker (Robert Brown) and Sharon (Win) Harbison. He is also survived by a large extended family and all those who loved him as family.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home, 604 Hwy 95 N, Elgin, Texas 78621. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Knobbs Springs Baptist Church, 1662 CR 305, McDade, Texas, 78650. Interment will follow at Knobbs Springs Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for a donation to be made to Knobbs Springs Baptist in his memory.
