George Rodriguez Prieto, age 54 was born in Elgin, Texas. He went home to be with the Lord on Saturday February 8, 2025, in Austin, Texas. George lived a life of strength, boldness, integrity, courage and devotion to God, his love for his family, and for his dear friends.
George was born on April 13, 1970, to Alfredo and Avelina Prieto. He graduated from Elgin High School. In May of 2005 he married Christina Sanchez Paiz and was a licensed Journeyman Electrician for many years. His passion was working on cars and trucks, talking with friends, coworkers, family, pastors, and loved being outdoors, no matter whether it was hot or cold. He also enjoyed taking his street truck or street car to Little River Academy in Temple, Texas. At one time, he held the record for having the fastest street car/truck in Elgin! Another favorite pastime for George was listening to good Christian music, and he loved to turn it up, whether it was in a local church or at Christian concerts. He always said if you're going to do something for the Lord, you need to give it your best! God is so good and He deserves our absolute best, nothing less! George also had a special place in his heart for young children and the elderly. If you ever had the opportunity to know George, you know there were always children around him, because of his fun personality! He knew how to make birthdays fun for the kids at church. He would sneak money into the pinata just to make it more interesting! They loved him dearly! On one occasion, while having breakfast at a restaurant, he noticed an elderly couple walking towards the front door. No one was paying attention to them, but he left his meal aside to walk over and open the door for the couple to come into the restaurant.
These are just a few of the things he was known to do on a regular basis.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years Christina Paiz Prieto, his daughter Marissa Ann Prieto (Cesar), his mother Avelina Rodriguez Prieto, his sister Martha Cortes(Ruben), and his brother Johnny Prieto.
He is also survived by brothers Tony & Jerry Prieto, and sisters Rosa Linda & Thomasita Prieto. He was preceded in death by his father Alfredo Prieto, who was a World War II Veteran. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Yolanda Troncoso, and Diana Prieto. George's memory will forever be cherished by everyone who knew him. George's legacy of hard work, courage, integrity, determination and love for God will live on through the many lives that he touched. He will be missed greatly.
