Gary Corbett

Our beloved son, brother, father, uncle Gary Wayne “Grub” Corbett, age 59, passed away peacefully at home on May 23, 2017 after a lengthy illness.

Gary was born December 10, 1957 to Pete and Shirley Coghlan Corbett in Austin Texas. Being part of a military family Gary grew up in Missouri, Nebraska, Del Rio, and Austin before finally becoming an Elginite in 1971. It wasn’t long before his buddies nicknamed him “Grub” and the name has stuck. There are those who don’t know him by any other name!

Over the years Gary played football, rode bulls, worked in the oil fields, worked at Westinghouse and Home Dept. But his favorite hobbies were golf and pool.

Gary was a born again Christian who loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his father Pete Corbett.

Gary is survived by his mother Shirley Corbett, sister Donna Lane(Thomas Machala), children Zoe and Jeffrey, nephews David Holt (Mariana and Tristan), Jason Holt (Lisa, Marissa, Ryan, Dylan).

A Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 30, 2017 Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 First Baptist Church Elgin. Interment to follow at the Elgin Cemetery. First Baptist Church will be hosting a reception afterwards.

Pallbearers will be: Ernest Hinkle, Ricky Hinkle, Colby Hinkle, Randy Belz and Ricky Belz
