On Thursday, November 25, 2021, Fred Scott, loving husband, father, and Papaw passed away at the age of 85. Fred was born on November 25, 1936 in Memphis, Texas to George and Sally Scott. On July 2, 1965 he married LaVerne Elaine Schroeder. They raised two sons Keith (Doc) and Grant (Shorty). He also had son Charles (Rusty) from a previous marriage.

Fred was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pflugerville, Texas.  During his lifetime he gained a love for the outdoors and animals.  The Scott family spent most vacations fishing, hunting, or at livestock shows. Fred started his career as a welder for Southern Union Gas, and later got a job with the Katy Railroad as a mechanic.  He retired from the Katy Railroad after 30 years of service. After retirement he bought a John Deere tractor which was his pride and joy and started a shredding business.

Fred is preceded in death by his father George and mother Sally, sons Rusty and Shorty, sisters Bell, Dee and Sammy, and brothers George Jr. and Bill. He is survived by his loving wife LaVerne, son Doc (Lori), daughter in law Robin Scott, grandchildren Chris, Colby, Katy (Tresdon), Zach, Shelby (Hunter), and Reagan (Brandon), sisters Betty (Frank) and Sue (Jim), brothers Dennis and Walter, along with five great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on December 2, 2021 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pflugerville at 11 am. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church Pflugerville Building Fund.

The family would like to thank the staff members at St. David’s Hospital in Round Rock and Falcon Ridge Rehabilitation in Hutto for their loving care in his last days.
