Elizabeth Anne Denham Oakes passed from this earth into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. She was 39 years old and beautiful in every way, inside and out.
A celebration of Beth’s life will be held on April 29, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church, 1004 N Mays St., Round Rock, Texas at 10:30am. Beth loved sunsets and surrounded herself with pictures of them on her phone and in her apartment. Her family would love to see attendees to the service in colorful clothes to honor something that Beth found joy and comfort in. The service will be live streamed, and a link will be provided close to the time of service.
Beth was born on April 19, 1984, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to parents Doug and Rene Denham. From a young age, she made friends wherever she went and that was a gift that continued through her adult life. She loved sports and grew up playing soccer and then running track at Sandia High School, where she graduated in 2002. Her job at River Pointe Church in Richmond, Texas, is where she, among her other duties, helped to arrange funerals. At that time, she found that she had a heart for helping and comforting grieving people, something that would lead her into her future career. She subsequently worked for a funeral home in Houston and served there even through the storm of 2016 and then through Hurricane Harvey in 2017. After getting her Funeral Director license, she was able to work for funeral homes in the Round Rock area where she was able to serve grieving families, many of whom expressed their gratitude to her for helping them through their time of need. Beth struggled with several illnesses and in her final years found relaxation in her painting and other craft work.
Beth was wholely devoted to her daughter, Madelyn, who she loved with all her heart. Beth always made herself available to attend school functions and help coach Madelyn’s volleyball teams. The two loved to travel and took many trips together. They loved their girl outings to enjoy, for example, mani-pedis, and spent a significant amount of “girl time” binge watching TV shows and movies. Madelyn was truly the biggest joy of Beth’s life.
Beth is survived by her daughter, Madelyn; by her parents, Doug and Rene Denham; sister, Becca McPherson and her daughter, Ryleigh; Grandmother, Louise Tomlin; Marcus Oakes, the father of Madelyn; and many loving and supportive aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to an account established to assist Beth’s daughter, Madelyn, and help to set her up for success as she pursues her dreams after high school. Checks can be made payable to “Raymond James FBO Madelyn Elizabeth Oakes” and mailed to Raymond James // 6034 W. Courtyard Dr., Suite 305 // Austin, TX 78730.
Beth will always be remembered for her love of Jesus, her Lord. Thus, although the grief that we experience now is deep, it is not without the hope that is yet deeper and greater in Christ.
