Edith Ellen Janz died Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at her home in Elgin, Texas. She was born August 29, 1929 to Doc and Opal Lunsford in Carnegie, Ok.

Ellen was an accomplished painter. One of her paintings won 1 st place at the Come and Take it art contest at Laguna Gloria Art Museum. She was a skilled seamstress who enjoyed making Easter outfits, prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses for her grandkids. She made both of her oldest granddaughters wedding dresses.

Ellen was a talented home decorator, creating a beautiful home that was comfortable. She always dressed very fashionable and loved wearing hats. She was the proud owner of E&M Furniture store in downtown Elgin. She loved visiting with all the customers that shopped in the store.

Ellen loved watching Jeopardy, the Texas Longhorns but her favorite was watching the San Antonio Spurs and cheered them on in hope of a NBA Championships.

“She was the most loving, kindest, sweetest person they ever met.” She loved her daughters, grandkids, and great grandkids. She was Aunt Ellie to all of her sister’s family and she cherished that. She enjoyed visiting with her many cousins also.

Most of all Ellen was a teacher of life skills and spirituality to family and friends.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents Doc and Opal Lunsford; husband Martin Janz; Sister Johnnie Sue Jones, nieces Montie Sue Scott and Peggy Diane Rathfon.

She is survived by daughters Trinea Moreno and husband William, Patricia Janz, Kay Raney ,six grandchildren; Allena Mitchell and husband Malik of Mississippi, Jeremy Clifford of Elgin, Anthony Sprague  and wife Lisa of Mississippi, Carlene Ogren and husband R.J. of Washington State, Erica Moreno of California and Andrew Moreno and fiancé Kayla of Austin. Great-grandchildren; Jager, Trevor and wife Alysa, Tristin, Zoe, Ryleigh, Jaden, Nathaniel, Alex, Eric and Kierra.

A Celebration of Ellen’s Life will be held at a later date.
