Douglas Lee Smith

Douglas Lee Smith, 24, formerly of Elgin, Texas, was born on August 6, 1998, in Odessa, Texas. Shortly before his 7 ^th birthday, he was adopted by Chris and Peggy Smith of Elgin, Texas. Doug lived the majority of his life in Elgin. He played sports, attended school, and enjoyed life in Elgin. Doug could catch a fish in a water puddle! That probably explains why he was such a good swimmer.

After high school, Douglas began a life in the workforce building fences and framing houses. The days of playing football and basketball with his little brother, Howie, were over and life had begun.

On October 28, 2022, Douglas passed away in Hawley, Texas. He will be missed by many people. He is survived by his dad, Chris Smith of Elgin, brother, Howie Smith of Austin, and sister, Sharday Nykole of White Settlement, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Smith, and grandmothers, Jean Jenkins and Bea Smith.

Services for Douglas will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at Lost Pines Cowboy Church, 334 Roemer Rd, Elgin, Texas. Travis Early and Larry Cobb will be officiating.
