Donald Lee Montbriand

Donald Lee Montbriand, 79, of McDade, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025.A private service will be held at a later date.

Donald “Don” was born April 3, 1945 in Grand Rapids, MN, the son of Edgar and Violet (Montbriand) Jahr. He was adopted as an infant by Chester and Helen Montbriand following his mother’s death at the time of his and his twin brother’s birth. He was raised and educated in Bemidji, MN, graduating from Bemidji High School in 1963 and attending Bemidji State University for a couple of years. 

He moved to Houston, TX, in 1965 and eventually to Beaumont, TX, where he met and married Jan Rose Chisum on April 19, 1968. 

Over the years, he enjoyed watching and coaching his 3 sons and daughter at Town and Country Optimist fields in northwest Austin.

Don found his niche in the home residential painting business with his 3 sons.

In later years, he moved to the country where he enjoyed having longhorns and walking around the property. 

He is survived by his wife Jan of McDade, sons Shane, Chad and Brady Montbriand of McDade and daughter and son-in-law Alison Montbriand Hill and Cory Hill of Windsor Heights, IA, and granddaughter Makayla and grandson Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his biological parents, adopted parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
