Dennis L. Burns

June 20,1955 - October 16, 2023

As a beloved child of God, Dennis L. Burns, age 68, born in Austin, Texas, raised in Manor, Texas. During the early hours of October 16, 2023, he completed his earthly race at Elgin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, located in Elgin, Texas. Now God’s beloved child is running his heavenly race.

Dennis was born on June 20, 1955, to Gracie M. Harris and Freddy Harris, Sr. He was a member of Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  With his jolly character and cheek-to-cheek smile, he was a gentleman to the ladies. The passage of marriage and the role of fatherhood was not in his season.

He graduated from Manor High School. Home of The Fighting Mustangs. After graduating from High School, he enlisted in the United States Armed Forces. Throughout his young childhood and adulthood, he was a dedicated worker. He worked for Summer Electric Company as an Electrician, until retirement.

During his free time, his passion was fishing with his friend Marvin. His family enjoyed watching him use the pitchfork and search for the best place to dig for worms. He was also a handyman. Spent time with his family. He will be missed. Run your heavenly race, my brother.

He is survived by Freddy Harris, Jr., Mary L. Harris, Ruby L. Harris, Ella R. Patterson, Lorine Harris, Edward H. Harris,  Clifton R. Harris, Demetria Harris, Mahdee A. Harris, Bea Harris(Derrick Garner, Sr.),  Atrayell B. Harris, Aniyah Ashby, Markita S. Harris, Andre Harris, Thomas C. Harris, Xavier Harris, Tanisha Harris, Catrina Davis, Lashawn Davis, Lashawnna, Dejanay Harris, Miachai Carter, Maikayla  Carter, Sirvonta LaShay Harris, Azariah Harris ( Great, Great, Great Niece), Lilliana Salazar, Derrick Garner, Jr., Elbert Burns(Wilma Mae), Bobby Burns(Jerri Burns), and Melba Mitchell.

A visitation will be held 10:00 AM Friday, October 27, 2023, Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home with a Celebration of Life beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Parks Spring Cemetery.
